Reading and Living in a Diverse First Grade Classroom
Welcome to my homepage! I've been teaching First Grade since 1992, but am thrilled to have just finished the Collaborative Masters Program in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State. Through this unique experience, I was able to focus on areas of personal interest. Since I have such a wide range of readers each year, reading became one of my focuses. I also have a student population that is economically and racially diverse, which has been challenging and frustrating at times. This became my second focus of study.
This web site contains portions of my final paper. As of 11/15/97 the reading and diversity portions are complete. I hope to add a teacher-research section on spelling, and an annotated bibliography of readings I found to be particularly helpful, shortly. I will also be adding photographs of my children in action. I hope you find the web site informative and useful.
